| Walking/Biking Trails |
Albany has been awarded two grants: 1)Transportation Enhancement grant from the Missouri Department of Transportation in the amount of $223,550; 2)Recreational Trails grant from the Dept of Natural Resources in the amount of $99,914 to construct a trail system that will help us make pedestrian and bicycle safety our number one priority. The project is entitled "Connect and Keep Fit Trails Project" and will be constructed in three phases over the course of five to seven years, beginning in the summer of 2010.
Once completed, this trail will be available to all non-motorized pedestrian traffic including walkers, strollers, bicycles and skaters. Right-of-way will be given to any person on foot to ensure safety. The trail will connect Albany's downtown with the ball fields, Historical Society grounds, Hundley-Whaley Research farm, soccer fields, Aquatic Center and Community Center.
For more information on the "Connect and Keep Fit Trail Project", contact City Hall at 660.726.3807
